Two new city council members elected

Here are the unofficial election results for Washington, Iowa from the Washington County Auditor's office.

In the city of Washington Iowa, City Council Candidate Mark Kendall unseated the incumbent Karen Wilson-Johnson for an at-large council seat. Kendall received 380 votes (73%) and Johnson received 141 (27%).

The Washington City Council seat for ward three had no registered candidates. Tina Thomas received 24 write-in votes to win. Thomas formerly served as the Riverside City Clerk. The seat was vacated by Mike Roth who declined to seek another term, however Roth received 14 write-in votes.

Washington ward one voters reelected Bob Shepherd with 92 votes. Shepherd was the only registered candidate, however Richard Young received 17 write-in votes.
